Q: I am looking at getting an HK P2000 .40, it is a great deal but it was a demo model for H&K. I do not know much about demo pistols. Should I get it? Thanks for everyones input. I ended up getting it. It usually goes for $799 and I ended up giving $549. It was a demo for HK themselves and had only a few hundred rounds through it. I believe it was used for police demos as it has the LEM trigger. I broke it down before buying it, no problems inside or out.
A: Ask the seller to disassemble the gun. Ignore any kind of dirt build-up and look for scratches, dents, and pits. Ask if the gun has been dry-fired often. Ask for an approximate number of round fired through it. If all surfaces are smooth or like-new, the gun has not been dry-fired often, has less than 1500-2000 rounds through it, and the price is right, then I would say that you should buy it.
