Q: i looked up on the concealed handgun license and it says that you need to be able to shoot a .32 or higher caliber weapon, but the gun i want to carry is my walther p22. it is .22 caliber if you didn't know i know .22 is not a good self defence caliber but i hae great aim with it and have killed a few attacking hogs with it by hitting them in the spine.
A: Yes, you need a CHL to carry. Killing hogs with a .22, while it makes you a good shot, doesn't prepare you for someone attacking you. There's a big difference between a hog and a human. Hogs don't shoot back! It's better to carry a larger caliber pistol than to depend on accuracy when you're in deep and the only thing you can do is defend yourself with deadly force. Even a heart shot with a .22 isn't an immediate stopping shot. A .38 loaded with hollow points hitting the chest will stop anyone from continuing the fight.
