Q: I was wondering if the Taurus Model 500 is still in production. I've been looking threw websites but cannot not find any for purchase. also which would you prefer, the Taurus 500 or S&W 500?
A: no, I don't think it is. I don't know if ANY were actually produced, I know they made an attempt and the model numbers were M500SS4 or SS6 or SS10 depending on a 4 or 6 or 10 inch barrel, but my understanding is while they made mockups, released pics of it and cataloged it as 'coming soon' the gun failed to hold up to the 500 SW round, and hence they never produced any to sell
